Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has published a press statement to inform that it is currently developing an integrated fund platform for the distribution of retail investment funds in Hong Kong. This platform aims to facilitate the entire distribution chain of retail funds, making it easier for market participants to offer fund products to their clients and, in turn, providing investors with a broader range of investment options.
The platform will cover funds authorized by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and will initially operate as a business-to-business service model. It consists of three main components: a Communication Hub to connect various parties in the fund distribution ecosystem, a Business Platform for fund-related functionalities such as redemptions, payments, or settlement, and an Information Portal for increased transparency and information access for the investing public. HKEX is currently collaborating with the Hong Kong government, the SFC, and other stakeholders to finalize the platform’s design and development framework in the coming months. The platform is aimed at enhancing Hong Kong’s role as a global wealth management center.
