The Polish Financial Supervision Authority, KNF, has published a press statement to inform that on May 31, 2023, the KNF decided to revoke the authorization of Athena Investments Dom Maklerski SA, a brokerage firm located in Katowice, to conduct brokerage activities in Poland. The revocation will be effective one month from the above noted decision date.
The reason for the withdrawal of the authorization was the failure of the Brokerage House to comply with the own funds requirements stipulated in Article 9 and and Article 11 of the Investment Firms Regulation (IFR). This withdrawal was not the consequence of an isolated incident caused by exceptional circumstances, but rather the result of the Brokerage House consistently being in a poor financial condition and being unable to take effective measures to improve it.
According to the KNF, maintaining adequate financial resources is crucial for an investment firm as it ensures a sufficient degree of investor protection and trading security. All firms operating in Poland are expected to meet the corresponding regulatory requirements.
