Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/2488 with respect to sanction measures in connection with Turkey’s unauthorized drilling activities in the Mediterranian Sea was published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU. The decision modifies Council Decision (CFSP) 2019/1894 which established such sanction measures including asset freezing, to extend the application date of the 2019 decision by one year, up to November 30, 2024. The decision for extension follows a recent review of the appropriateness of the sanction measures by the EU Council.
Also, Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/2488 modifies the title of the 2019 decision to read as follows: „Council Decision (CFSP) 2019/1894 of 11 November 2019 concerning restrictive measures in view of Türkiye’s unauthorised drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean“.
