Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/2498 with respect to sanction measures „in view of the situation in Venezuela“ was published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU. The decision modifies Council Decision (CFSP) 2017/2074 to make the following changes:
(1) it extends the application date of the 2017 decision by six months up to May 14, 2024. The 2017 decision sets out a sanctions framework for human rights violations or activities involving the repression of civil society or democratic opposition in Venezuela.
(2) Annex I to the 2017 decision is amended to update the records of 16 sanctioned individuals and remove the records of one individual (latter measure was announced in a corresponding regulation as well (Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2500)).
