Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/2768 with respect to sanction measures in view of the situation in the Republic of the Congo was published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU. The decision modifies Council Decision 2010/788/CFSP to make the following changes:
(1) Extension of sanction measures: All sanction measures in connection with human rights abuses or the violation of the arms embargo in the Democratic Republic of Congo as set out in Article 3(2) of the 2010 decision (consolidated version) are extended by one year, up to December 12, 2024.
(2) Replacement of the sanctions list: Annex II to the 2010 decision containing a list of sanctioned (legal) persons is replaced in its entirety as some records on the sanction list have been updated following a recent review of the list by the European Council. This measure is also implemented via a corresponding regulation, namely Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2771 (please see EventID 24148 in this context for more information).
