Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2500 as regards targeted sanction measures „in view of the situation in Venezuela“ was published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU. It modifies Annex IV of Council Regulation (EU) 2017/2063 which sets out a list of persons, entities, or bodies that are sanctioned due to their engagement in „serious human rights violations or abuses or the repression of civil society and democratic opposition or activities that undermine democracy or the rule of law in Venezuela“. Specifically, the „statement of reasons for 16 persons“, that is the reasoning for being sanctioned, is updated following a recent review by the European Council. Also, one person is removed from the Annex altogether. The affected persons are the following:
