New Council Regulation (EU) 2023/1565 regarding restrictive measures with respect to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU. The new Regulation modifies an existing sanction regulation in this context, namely Council Regulation (EC) No 1183/2005, to modify the list of reasons for which persons, entities, and bodies may be sanctioned in Article 2b, point (d) to now read as follows – as quoted:
„providing support to natural or legal persons, entities or bodies responsible for sustaining the armed conflict, instability or insecurity in the DRC“.
Previous point (d) read „providing support to natural or legal persons, entities or bodies referred to in point (c)“, whereby point (c) states „being responsible for sustaining the armed conflict, instability or insecurity in the DRC“.
