New Council Regulation (EU) 2023/2506 in connection with sanction measures imposed due to the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR) was published on EUR-Lex, the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU.
The regulation modifies an existing sanctions regulation on same issue, Council Regulation (EU) No 224/2014, to remove the notification requirements stipulated in Article 3, point (e) which itself permits the financing and / or brokerage of certain weapons, vehicles, and ammunition and the provision of technical service in this context. Previously, the Article required that the European Sanctions Committee be notified at least 20 days before any such activities are undertaken.
