Published in the Official Gazette No. 247 on 21 October 2023, the annual contribution due from members to the Guarantee Fund for insurance and reinsurance brokers for the year 2023 is determined by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.
The Guarantee Fund for Brokers is an autonomous entity located within CONSAP and is administered by a management committee appointed by a decree from the Ministry of Economic Development. The primary purpose of the Guarantee Fund is to compensate for financial losses suffered by policyholders and insurance companies as a result of the insurance or reinsurance intermediation activities when the Broker has not provided compensation or when such compensation is not covered by their liability insurance policy, as mandated by law.
The Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, in consultation with IVASS and the Committee managing the Guarantee Fund for insurance and reinsurance brokers, determines annually the contribution that brokers must pay to the fund. This contribution cannot exceed 0.50% of the commissions earned by brokers.
The contribution that members must pay to the Guarantee Fund for insurance and reinsurance brokers for the year 2023 is set at 0.08% of the commissions earned by insurance and reinsurance brokers in 2022.
Payments must be made by 31 October 2023, and within the same deadline, brokers are required to submit a self-declaration, confirming the commissions earned during the year 2022, to the Fund.
