ESMA has published a revised version of its Reporting Manual on the European Single Electronic Format. The update expands existing guidance and reflects relevant developments in the technical specifications. This year’s version includes
– Clarifications on image formats in xHTML documents.
– Updates to references in the Data Type Registry.
– Clarifications on the application of Calculations 1.1 specification within ESEF.
– Correction of previously identified errors.
ESMA also provides guidance on using elements from the 2023 IFRS Taxonomy update on a voluntary basis, as the incorporation of these updates into ESEF RTS has been postponed until 2024.
Additionally, ESMA offers further guidance on implementing block-tagging requirements and ensuring the readability of information extracted from block tags.
The ESEF Reporting Manual is aimed at all market participants involved in the implementation of the requirements set out in the ESEF Delegated Regulation, and in particular in the preparation of IFRS consolidated financial statements in the XHTML format.
