The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has published in the Federal Register a final rule to make a rather technical correction to its Fair Housing Rule under 12 CFR Part 338. The Fair Housing Rule stipulates disclosure and recordkeeping obligations of banks and savings associations engaged in real estate loan lending activities. Specifically, it requires, among other things, to disclose to clients on the „Equal Housing Lending Posters“ the address of the National Center for Consumer and Depositor Assistance where complaints may be made to by consumers in view of the fair housing rules.
The now issued final rule inserts brackets for the address of the National Center for Consumer and Depositor Assistance which were previously accidently omitted and resulted in banks and savings associations only setting out the name of the Center on their posters, but not the address of such that may be used by consumers to file their complaints.
