The Hong Kong government has published a press release to inform of the signing of a Cooperation Framework Agreement between the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Silk Road Fund Co., Ltd (SRF) in Beijing. Under this agreement, China and Hong Kong plan to create a Belt and Road (BNR) investment platform and invest up to RMB 15 billion or equivalent in phases. Both will thereby utilize their strengths in capital, information, technology, and management to support the Belt and Road initiative through onshore and offshore investments. The first phase involves forming the BNR HK Flagship Impact Fund with a total capital of up to $1 billion or equivalent in Renminbi, focusing on energy transition, infrastructure, and ESG-related projects.
