On October 4, 2023, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) published a press release to inform that on September 28, 2023, MPFA Chairman Mrs. Ayesha Macpherson Lau and senior MPFA management met with the chairmen and board members of all MPF trustees. During the meeting, she outlined four major goals of the MPFA to improve the MPF system and urged trustees to work alongside the MPFA to enhance the retirement savings of all MPF members.
The four major goals are:
– Improving investment returns;
– Lowering fees;
– Reviewing contribution levels; and
– Encouraging voluntary contributions.
Mrs. Lau expressed her gratitude to the attending trustees for their support and contributions to the eMPF Platform project. She emphasized that by working together, trustees can help scheme members build larger retirement savings. The meeting also covered topics like governance reports of MPF submitted by trustees and updates on the eMPF Platform project’s development and onboarding.
