A new consolidated version of Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 as regards sanction measures – including asset freezing and other prohibitions – „in view of Russia’s actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine“ was published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU. The consolidated version includes the revisions made by a corrigendum to Council Regulation (EU) 2023/427.
Council Regulation (EU) 2023/427 itself modified numerous articles and annexes of Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 to implement additional trade and business prohibitions and restrictions with respect to Russia and to require extensive reporting of financial market participants relating to securities issued by the Central Bank of Russia or any transactions related to the management of reserves of the Central Bank.
The above noted corrigendum corrected a wrong date in the 2023 regulation to require the reporting of Russian Central Bank engagements no later than 14 days following April 27, 2023.
We recommend to review both EventID 19751 and EventID 19895 in this context for more information.
