A new consolidated version of Regulation (EU) 2015/757 which lays down rules for the accurate monitoring, reporting, and verification of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from maritime transport was published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU. The new version contains the amendments made by Regulation (EU) 2023/957, which primarily enhanced the monitoring, reporting, and verification obligations of shipping companies to ensure that emissions can adequately be monitored at EU level and delegated powers to the EU Commission to establish adequate standards in this context.
