On December 18, 2023, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (FED) published in the Federal Register a notice to inform of the 2023 aggregate global indicator amounts (AGIA) which the FED takes over from the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS). The amounts were converted to $US with the spot exchange rate of December 31, 2022 as published by the BCBS.
The AGIA must be used by all financial institutions in the U.S. for purposes of the Method 1 score calculation to determine their systemic importance and to determine whether or not they will be subject to the surcharge fee required by the FED for systemically important institutions. The exact AGIA figures for each of the indicators on interconnectedness, substitutability, complexity, and cross-jurisdictional activity are depicted below:
