In view of recent fraudulent activities of criminals that pretend to be staff members of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF), the KNF has now published a corresponding press statement. Therein, the KNF warns both consumers and firms of any such activities which may be targeting network devices by placing malicious malware in systems to gain access to IT-systems.
Particularly end-consumers are also warned of fake telephone calls by individuals impersonating the Authority or financial institutions and claiming to act on behalf of those parties to receive certain information. If individuals are receiving any such calls, they are advised to ask for identification of the caller and check the KNF’s website to verify this identification. Additionally, if a call appears to be fraudulent, customers shall contact the police immediately.
