Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/457 of 2 March 2023 amending Decision 2014/119/CFSP concerning restrictive measures directed against certain persons, entities and bodies in view of the situation in Ukraine

Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/457 regarding sanction measures „in view of the situation in Ukraine“ was published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU. The decision modifies Council Decision 2014/119/CFSP which sets out asset freezing measures and restrictions on the provision of funds towards person, entities, and bodies involved in the misappropriation of Ukrainian state funds and the violation of human rights and the rule of law in Ukraine. Specifically, the 2023 Decision replaces Article 5 of the 2014 Decision regarding its general application date. Thereafter, the decision with respect to sanction measures against persons set out in the Annex shall apply until and is extended to March 6, 2024.
Also, the decision includes the replacement of Section B of Annex I of the 2014 Decision to update the „Rights of defence and the right to effective judicial protection“ for listed persons. This replacement is also covered in corresponding Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/449 (please see EventID #19829 in this context).
