HKSAR Government releases Green Bond Report 2023

The Hong Kong government has issued a press statement to inform of the publication of its Green Bond Report 2023. The report is primarily addressed at both retail and institutional investors in the government’s green bonds in an effort to provide information on the proceeds from green bonds issuances in the past year and to provide transparency on the allocation of funds towards green projects. The report thereby describes
– the government’s green bond program and other initiatives to foster sustainable finance in Hong Kong;
– the green bond framework and its scope including the criteria for eligible investments;
– details on the most recent issues of green bonds in January 2023 and June 2023 and the issue of tokenised green bonds in February 2023;
– details on the use of the proceeds from the issuances; and
– details on the assumed environmental benefits of the invested projects.
