On August 23, 2023, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) published a press release to inform about various new sanction measures. Specifically, the Office
(1) issued a new determination under Executive Order 14014 in relation to the military regime in Burma (Myanmar) to expand the scope of non-permissible activities with respect to the country to include the „jet fuel sector of the Burmese economy“. Firms and individuals that operate or have operated in this area may be sanctioned accordingly. The expansion follows the continuous aggression of the Burmese military regime towards its own people – particularly via air attacks.
