Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/2129 was published in the Official Journal (OJ) of the EU. Therein, the European Council stipulates that the sanction measures in connection with the „proliferation and use of chemical weapons“ as set out in Council Decision (CFSP) 2018/1544 are extended by one year, up to October 16, 2024. Also, the 2018 Decision as a whole shall apply for another 3 years, up to October 16, 2026.
To recap, the 2018 Decision sets out targeted measures, including financial sanctions in form of asset freezes, for persons, firms, and entities involved in the use, production, distribution, and financing of chemical weapons or any activity related thereto.
