In view of the ongoing consultation (CP23/21) on new data collections with respect to institutions and firms offering consumer lending including mortgages (EventID 23141), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has now released a related xls file. Specifically, the file sets out the proposed data collection items as described on pages 8-80 of Appendix 1 of the consultation paper.
To recall, in an effort to better monitor market competitiveness, respond to emerging threats, and inform future regulations and supervisory strategies as regards institutions and firms engaged in consumer lending, the FCA aims to collect detailed data on the sale and performance of consumer credit agreements including mortgage loans via three newly launched returns. The proposed data collection would include general information on loans, including the loan type, APR, launch date, third parties and related commissions etc., and new detailed information on a lender’s capacity to service a loan, the purpose for entering a loan agreement, fees incurred by the customer, and the borrower’s performance in servicing the loan, including arrears and penalties. These returns would need to be filed quarterly, except for the „back book“ return, which would only have to be furnished once to provide detailed information on already existing loan agreements.
