Effective date for changes to Stock Connect trading calendar

Following a recent announcement of upcoming changes to the trading calendar for securities trading via Stock Connect, the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (SFC) has now published a follow-up statement in this context. To recall, in an effort to facilitate trading without time restrictions due to national holidays in either Hong Kong or mainland China, the Commission itself and the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) had agreed to work on a new harmonized trading calendar which would „enable Stock Connect trading on any day when both the Mainland and Hong Kong markets are open, even when the corresponding settlement day falls on a public holiday.“
According to the SFC and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), the new calendars for securities trading and settlement have now been concluded for Northbound trading under Stock Connect and will come into force on April 24, 2023. The calendars may be accessed via the following links:
