In light of the recent earthquake in Syria and Turkey, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury has published a press release to inform of the issuance of a new Syria-related General License (GL 23). The license permits all financial transactions related to earthquake relief measures for the benefit of Syria and the Syrian people that would otherwise be prohibited by the Syrian Sanctions Regulations (Statutory Instrument 31 CFR Part 542) for 180 days, up to August 8, 2023.
