On July 26, 2023, the Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS) has published its latest Quarterly Newsletter featuring some highly interesting articles regarding the following issues:
1. ESG disclosure linked to enhanced risk-reward in Singapore: This article presents the key findings from a study performed by Bloomberg about the performance of Singapore MSCI companies with excellent ESG disclosures in terms of investment returns and price volatility.
2. The green investment path towards decarbonisation in Asia: This article describes recent regulatory developments in Asia to drive the transition to net zero carbon emission in the region and presents concurrent industry efforts to transition to alternative energy sources.
Also, the Newsletter provides a summary of the IMAS „Lunchtime Roundtable – Navigating the new Frontier of Digital Assets for Asset Managers“ which was held on June 6, 2023, the „IMAS Lunchtime Talk – The Perils and Pitfalls of Greenwashing“ which took place on June 1, 2023, and several other past IMAS events.
It also informs of a new IMAS iLearn – learning module on „climate change management“. The IMAS encourages all asset managers to participate in the 4-hour course, as it covers relevant issues such as „International Agreements and Frameworks on Climate Change“, risks that arise from climate change, and risk mitigation techniques.
IMAS finally informs of an upcoming event on liquidity risk management in August or September and the upcoming IMAS „Asset Owners / Fund Managers‘ CIO Roundtable“ on August 30, 2023. Further details will be announced in due course.
