New API for interest rates and exchange rates under development

ID 23103

The Swedish Central Bank, Riksbank, has published a press statement to inform that it is currently working on the development of a new, modern Application Programming Interface (API) which shall make it easier for users to „automatically retrieve interest rates and exchange rates from the Riksbank“. The new API, the so-called REST API, will replace Riksbank’s old SOAP API in due course, whereby the actual switch is scheduled for Q4/2023.
A first beta version of the REST API is now available via this link. Riksbank recommends users of the SOAP API to test the new beta version and check out connectivity and its functionality. Also, users need to assess and develop a plan for transitioning to the new REST API. Riksbank plans to implement a 3-month transition period during which both interfaces will be available.
To help firms transition to the new REST API and to clarify important issues in this context, Riksbank has also published corresponding frequently asked questions.
