Open hearing on consultation on ESG terms in funds’ names

ID 21394

Following the launch of a consultation on proposed guidelines for the use of ESG-related terms in investment funds‘ names (please see EventID 18186 for a detailed description of the proposed provisions and restrictions), the European Securities and Markets Authority, ESMA, has now published a press statement in this context. Specifically, ESMA informs that on January 23, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m., it will hold an open hearing on that matter, thereby particularly addressing the following key points – as quoted:
– the rationale leading to this initiative, from the supervisory briefing on funds’ names to the proposed Guidelines;
– the proportion of investments for funds’ names using ESG or sustainability-related terms (the thresholds);
– additional recommendations proposed for funds using ESG or sustainability-related terms in their names;
– feedback from stakeholders on the consultation paper.
Interested parties seeking to participate in the hearing need to register via ESMA’s website by January 19, 2023, 11:59 p.m.
