On 11.09.2023 the first meeting of the newly formed Working Group took place. The meeting was associated with introducing a new supervisory requirement for banks issuing mortgages called WFD – Long-term Financing Ratio (PL: Wskaźnik Finansowania Długoterminowego). The Working Group’s aim is to advise KNF on developing a final methodology for Long-term Financing Ratio calculation that would focus on:
– defining the final picture of WFD
– actions taken in order to improve the lien market in Poland
The current financial situation in Polish banks allow for this reform and to introduce new methodology in order to increase the risk management quality and limit the interest rate and liquidity risks. The Working Group plans to develop WFD calculations based on 3 pilars:
– the construction and calibration of WFD
– institutional lien activities in Poland
– lien activities in Poland
