The UK and the SEC Thailand sign new MoU on financial services

ID 21393

The UK government has published a press release to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC Thailand) and the United Kingdom government „to further strengthen their partnership in the financial sector“. The MoU was signed on January 9, 2023 and follows a previous one that particularly included the provision of UK assistance in key financial areas such as climate risk related disclosures of firms, the introduction and update of accounting standards, and the fostering of sustainable finance in Thailand, e.g. via the issuance of green bonds, to name a few.
This new MoU builds on this previous agreement and encompasses the provision of additional support to „further develop the regulatory environment for the FinTech sector, promote sustainable finance, and increase awareness of sustainable investment in Thailand and other ASEAN countries“.
