The Bank of Italy’s Order of 1 August 2023 has been published, containing changes to the Bank of Italy’s Order of 26 march 2019 regarding internal organisation, procedures, and controls for anti-money laundering.
It aims to incorporate the latest guidelines from the EBA regarding policies and procedures for compliance management. It establishes the role and responsibilities of the anti-money laundering officer.
The amendments result from a limited consultation conducted the 6 april 2023 by the Bank of Italy with industry representative associations.
Among the key changes introduced by the amendments, there is a new section dedicated to the designated anti-money laundering officer. Additionally, there are provisions concerning the anti-money laundering function, outsourcing, and rules applicable to groups.
After publication in the Official Gazette, the measure will enter into force 90 days after that date.
Recipients are required to appoint the designated anti-money laundering officer during the first renewal of governing bodies following the enforcement of this order, but no later than 30 June 2026.
