The Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) of the U.S. Department of Labor has published in the Federal Register a final rule to make rather technical revisions to a previously issued rule pertaining to the reporting requirements of employee pension plans. Specifically, the previous rule was issued on February 24, 2023 and implemented new reporting and auditing requirements for defined contribution groups and multiple-employer retirement plans, among others (please see EventID 19905 in this context for a detailed description of the rule).
In its rule now, EBSA postpones (corrects) the effective date of the previous rule and thus the effective date of the new reporting requirements to May 31, 2023, as it is required by law that any rule won’t come into force until 60 days after its publication in the Federal Register „or the receipt by Congress, whichever is later“.
Additionally, EBSA corrects a spelling mistake in the rule.
